For the first time ever, Campeche will host an air show. The event is expected to kick off on February 24th at the location of the pier and San Francisco dock in front of the Plaza Galerías Campeche. Campeche, a Mexican state situated on the Yucatan Peninsula, is well known for its limestone hills, tropical rainforests, and beaches which will provide a stunning backdrop for the festivities.
The National Tourism Promotion Council of Sectur, who funded the event are expecting tourism to generate a great deal of revenue from hotel reservations, food and beverage consumption as well as various other attributes related to an influx in travelers hoping to attend the air show as well as the participants. The event is expected to bring more than 15,000 spectators to Campeche and may be televised.
The air show will highlight the participation of professional aerobatic pilots hailing from 4 or 5 different countries including the United States, Canada, and Russia. The pilots will perform high-level stunts. There will additionally be precision skydiving demonstrations and parachuting from helicopters into kayaks and various other type water landings. In total, at least 12 separate professionals will perform.
The event is expected to commence at 4 pm on Saturday, February 24th. Those wanting to watch the air show will be able to view it from the boardwalk.
